After the R5 in 2022, another cult model from Losange celebrates its birthday in 2023. It is of course the Renault Twingo, which celebrates its 30th anniversary. The small chip of the French manufacturer offers a retrospective during the 47th edition of the Retromobile show, which will take place from February 1 to 5, 2023. Autonews visited this exhibit in preview.
Installed at The Originals Renault Garage stand in Hall 1 of the Paris Expo exhibition center at the Porte de Versailles in Paris, this retrospective dedicated to the Twingo includes several models of the city car. One of the first versions launched in 1993 is noticeably present, with its famous black plastic rear bumper.

We also discovered at this exhibition a Renault Twingo Lecoq built in 1995. Rather upscale or even luxurious, this special series features a two-tone black and yellow paint that is clearly inspired by the old Bugatti. The city car sits on BBS rims, while the passenger compartment receives upholstery that combines leather, Alcantara and wood. This edition was produced in only fifty copies.

The Renault stand at the Rétromobile 2023 show also allows you to discover the Twingo Coupe from 1995. Already exhibited for the city car’s 20th anniversary in 2013, this prototype stands out in its sporty blue and white livery, sponsored by Elf. The interior is equipped with a roll bar and the hood contains a 1.6 engine of 135 horsepower or a 2.0 of 150 horsepower in some versions.
The legendary Benetton special series is present

Rejected in many special series during its career, the first Twingo was particularly famous for its Benetton version. This edition is distinguished by its multicolored checkered seats and its Benetton logos. It also has power-adjustable glasses.
The first Twingo finally went electric

In addition to a copy from 2004, there is also an electric version of the Twingo on the Renault stand. This car receives a retrofit kit that the French manufacturer is preparing to market. This new electric version of the Twingo – not to be confused with the conversion offered by Lormauto – made its first public appearance at the Retromobile show.

What models are shown?
Renault is taking advantage of the 2023 edition of the Rétromobile show to pay tribute to the Twingo on the occasion of thirty years of this model. At the brand’s stand in Diamond, the city car is available in its Benetton version, but also its rare Lecoq edition and its Coupe prototype. A first series from 1993 is also shown, like an example put into circulation in 2004, or even an electric version equipped with a retrofit kit.
What are the dates and times for the 2023 edition?
The 47th edition of the Rétromobile show will take place from February 1 to 5, 2023, at the Paris Expo exhibition center at the Porte de Versailles, in Paris. This event dedicated to collector vehicles opens its doors every day from 10 am to 7 pm, except Wednesday February 1 and Friday February 3 when it closes later, at 10 pm
What is the ticket price?
The price for an entry ticket for the Rétromobile 2023 show is set at €21 online during the show, or €24 by paying at the cash desk on site. Admission to the show is free for children under 12 years old.
