Celtics crush Kyrie Irving and the Nets: +43!
Behind a hot Jayson Tatum and an unstoppable defense, the Celtics started the game on an incredible 35-7 run and quickly counted up to 31 points early (44-13)!
We’ll have to wait for the second quarter to see Brooklyn lift their heads. Joe Harris scored three award-winning shots and Cam Thomas added ten points off the bench to slowly close the gap (62-40).
However, the Nets’ rise was short-lived. Still just as skilled from distance, Boston ended the half on a 17-5 run to return to the locker room at +34 (79-45)! Despite an effective Kyrie Irving after the break, the Nets failed to instill any doubt in their opponent. The gap was at least 30 points, and Boston was on its way to a quiet victory.
WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER
– We must not miss the beginning of the match. Sometimes soft after two days off, the Celtics this time jumped at the throat of the Nets. It all started with a stout defense, limiting Brooklyn to 28% on shots and 16% from 3-pointers. Boston was able to run in transition and find some rhythm. Who said that the rhythm said the address, and the Celtics made a festival! They finished the first quarter with 46 points on 62% shooting, including a good 8 of 11 from 3-pointers. Jayson Tatum, author of four award-winning shots, finished the period with 18 points while Jaylen Brown added 12.
– The Tatum – Brown pair stronger than the starting Brooklyn. In a game that does not lack statistics that are clear to the advantage of the Celtics, such as their dominance in rebounds (57 to 32) or 3-pointers (26 scored against 9), it is about the two “Jays that jump. out of you. Tatum and Brown actually scored more points than the Nets’ entire starting five (57-55)! A night to quickly forget for Brooklyn.
– Ben Simmons and TJ Warren back on Saturday? The two players who missed their third game tonight are expected to return Saturday against the Wizards. Jacque Vaughn wanted to be optimistic before the meeting.
TOPS/FLOPS
✅ Jayson Tatum. Author of 18 of his 31 points in the first quarter, he put his team in orbit from the first minutes of the match.
✅ Jaylen Brown. Like his friend, Jaylen Brown also had fun with the Nets defense, finishing the game with 26 points.
✅ Kyrie Irving – Cam Thomas. The two point guards/guards were the only players to pass the 15-point mark for Brooklyn. Kyrie Irving scored 20 points and Cam Thomas added 19.
⛔ Seth Curry – Nic Claxton. In full swing for two weeks, both players were cautious against Boston’s aggressive defense. Seth Curry finished with 7 points on 3/9 shooting, while Nic Claxton had to settle for 9 points and 6 rebounds.
