The Clippers found their stars, and success in Chicago
After their loss in Cleveland to a bis team, which broke the streak of five consecutive wins, the Clippers continued their progress in Chicago tonight (108-103).
Kawhi Leonard (33 points, 5 assists, 5 steals) and Norman Powell (27 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists) balanced the Californian attack that took a while to get going (8/22 on shots only including 3/12 to 3 -pointers. in the first quarter), but ended up winning against the Bulls who started their four-game home series on a bad note.
However, Chicago showed good intentions from the start, with the Bulls going 18-7 to start. Later, Patrick Williams took off for a great dunk in the 3rd quarter, with his team still in control.
But Los Angeles will control operations in the home straight, under the leadership of Kawhi Leonard, author of a 3-point clutch, and an interception more than the last possession of the Bulls. Like what, it’s nice to rest its stars…
WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER
– A Clippers straggler game. Taken by the throat from the start by the Bulls reassembled to block, with an initial 18-7, the Clippers started the game in the hole. The Californian troop started slowly before winning in the end. And it all started with 16-2 in the last minutes of the first half, on the shoulders of Norman Powell (15 points in the period), while LA counted up to 19 disbursement points!
– A thrilling finish to the game. It was only in the last quarter that the Clippers led the scoreboard, and again! Still chasing the Bulls, we had to fight until the last second to get rid of the Bulls, after a tense and twisty finish. The two former Spurs (switched for each other), DeRozan on the 2-point and Leonard on the 3-point, initially responded tit for tat, before Caruso went for a layup after a block from LaVine . But, still leading by one point, the Clippers managed to hold on, not shaking at the throw line, with Powell 10 seconds from the end, then Leonard after an interception on the Bulls’ final possession.
TOPS/FLOPS
✅ Kawhi Leonard. Left to rest in Ohio, he immediately resumed his good habits in Chicago. The former best defender in the League put out his claw (“The Klaw”) with at least 5 interceptions to accompany his 33 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds. He also, as often, was decisive with 12 points in the final quarter (out of 23 for his team).
✅ Norman Powell. Kawhi Leonard’s former teammate in Toronto had a great game to accompany his superstar last night. Unstoppable in the second quarter with 15 units, he finished with 27 points on 7/11 shots, enough to revive him after four fairly average, even mediocre, skill games.
✅ Nikola Vucevic. The Bulls’ pivot still blackened the stats sheet with 23 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and even 2 steals but, despite his offensive efficiency (10/15 overall and 3/6 from long range), he couldn’t -tip the scales in favor of his people.
✅⛔️ Zach LaVine. With a double-double for the first time this season, with 18 points and 14 rebounds, he almost saw a triple (with 8 assists) but, like his team, he didn’t have the energy to finish the game.
