Without the Leonard/George duo, the Clippers’ streak in Cleveland would end

The Cavaliers learned their lesson. Ten days ago, they lost at home to the Warriors who arrived without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson or Draymond Green. Last night, the Ohio players remained serious to further repel a Clippers team, which remained on a five-game winning streak, without Kawhi Leonard, Paul George or even Reggie Jackson.

A completely unbalanced meeting in which the Los Angeles franchise never took the lead, while the locals, who shot 60% from distance (20/33), counted up to 40 points ahead…

WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER

An almost permanent “garbage season”. The locals played their basketball quietly from the first quarter, without making many sparks but taking advantage of the weakness of the opposite side: the Clippers scored only 6 points in the first seven minutes. Comfortable in the lead after twelve minutes (31-15), Darius Garland, Cedi Osman and others continued their demonstration to return to the locker room with a 30-point lead (64-34). With a 3-point shot from Jarrett Allen, Cleveland offered the largest margin of the match (82-42), before the game became a wide exchange of baskets, between Cedi Osman in particular and Brandon Boston Jr. The visitors thus scored more points (42) in the fourth quarter than in the previous two.

A fantastic combination with Tyronn Lue. The Californian coach was certainly deprived of his two best elements, but instead of wanting to compensate for these absences with other outsiders present (Norman Powell, Nicolas Batum, Luke Kennard…), made He has many requests in his interiors. Tyronn Lue started the second quarter with a surprising five where Ivica Zubac connected with Moses Brown, as well as Moussa Diabate, with Brandon Boston Jr. the first offensive option by default. Needless to say, this experiment, which lasted six minutes, was inconclusive…

TOPS/FLOPS

Cedi Osman. It tied a career record for Turk, who also tied a franchise record by converting on all seven of his long attempts, including four in the final quarter as the game was played. Only Kyrie Irving and Mo Williams have done it. His big night coincided with Turkish Heritage Night being celebrated at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Darius Garland. The symbol of a dominant major five cut off the opposite one. Despite his low playing time and amount of shots, he finished with a double-double (16 points and 10 assists) without a waste. Perhaps he spent more energy on the bench, encouraging substitutions, as on the floor.

Moussa Diabate. A word about the Frenchman ending one of the very rare positive effects on his team’s score. He took advantage of this one-sided match to sign his career record. Despite a position in position 3 in this second quarter mentioned above, and therefore difficulty in placement, he volunteered.

Clippers veterans. After the first passage of seven minutes without relief, Nicolas Batum went to his bench and never left it. His replacement Luke Kennard did not have much of an impact while Normal Powell, the expected first option, got just 16 minutes. Meanwhile, Ivica Zubac didn’t get it. Result: Tyronn Lue prefers to give minutes to his youngsters.
