Some have announced their novelties in China in late 2022 or early January 2023, while others are trying to maintain a semblance of mystery with their upcoming novelties. But, as the rumors go, it’s already possible to get an idea of ​​the devices that will be unveiled later this year.

Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra

This is the main series of the beginning of the year, as Samsung Unpacked is expected on February 1st. The South Korean will present the Galaxy S23 series, which will include the eponymous smartphone, a Galaxy S23+ version and a Galaxy S23 Ultra. Mobiles whose design should be close to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, with dorsal photo modules integrated directly into their shell and which will replace the standard Exynos chip that drives them in Europe for a SoC signed Qualcomm.

OnePlus 11

Although we are no longer sure that a Pro model should be expected this year, OnePlus will have at least one high-end smartphone to offer: the 11. The smartphone, which was announced in China in the first week of January, is will be released worldwide. in February, for marketing in Europe between the end of the first quarter and the second quarter of the year.

Oppo is long overdue in the folding smartphone market, and for good reason: the first model of its kind, the Find N (2022), was released only in China. With its new generation, branded Find N2, it aims to invite itself to the whole world.

Its Flip, in clamshell format, intends to bring serious competition to Samsung, which dominates this segment with its Galaxy Z Flip 4. And there is something of interest: the smartphone is equipped with an internal screen of 6.8 inches, a Dimensity 9000 + chip from MediaTek, but also a double photo module (50 + 8 megapixels) and, above all, a large external screen, as it measures 3.26 inches. So we can expect to deserve a fully usable smartphone, or almost, when folded, which will bring a new dimension to the clamshell format. What we should check quickly, because the French release of the Find N2 Flip is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.

Xiaomi 13 Pro

Xiaomi always announces its new products in two stages: China has the first of its encrypted series in December, and the rest of the world has to wait until the beginning of next year to discover them more detailed. Xiaomi 13 does not deviate from the practices of the manufacturer, who made them official in the last weeks of 2022. The Pro model is particularly noteworthy: the smartphone meets, on paper at least, all standards you can expect from a top -of-the-range model from 2023. 6.73-inch Oled screen (QHD+), Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, 6E wifi, 120 W fast charge… all standards is met.

If it is not a high-end smartphone, Samsung’s Galaxy A54 is nevertheless one of the most anticipated terminals in 2023. And for good reason: while the South Korean seems set to tighten its ranges and leave the Galaxy Its S FE, the device is intended to ensure the transition between mid-range devices and high-end models of the brand.

The successful versions of the A52 and A53, the Galaxy A54 certainly promises some new features, but an interesting value for money. According to the latest leaks, the smartphone will be more compact, with its 6.4-inch screen (instead of 6.5 inches for the Galaxy A53), and will have an updated chip, namely the Exynos 1380. We also noticed that it will exchange a main sensor of 64 Mpx against a sensor of 50 Mpx, which we expect to increase the performance. Another advantage of such a product: like the Galaxy A53, it should benefit from software support for four years on the OS side, and five years on the security patch side. It remains to be seen when it will be presented; we can note here that the Galaxy A53 is officially in March 2022.

Apple iPhone 15 and 15 Pro

Apple maintains an unchanged schedule every year, presenting a series of flagship smartphones in the second half of September. While the next generation of the iPhone SE seems to wait until 2024, the iPhone 15 should not experience a delay.

The new products from the Apple firm can be divided into two ranges, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus equipped with the A16 Bionic chip, while the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Ultra (probably replacing the Pro Max models) are equipped of the A17 SoC is likely to be etched at 3 nm. 2023 will be the year of foldable smartphones. After a year 2022 in which the Pixel Fold, the first smartphone of its kind, was regularly talked about, then raised fears of its abandonment, it seems the device is well and truly on track. It will likely be part of the movement of devices to the “book” format, with a vertical fold. It will have a 7.57-inch internal panel and a 5.78-inch external display, a slightly more compact format than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4, for example. We can expect the inclusion of a Tensor G2 chip inside the terminal, but also a picture block close to the Pixel 7. All this, however, cannot be confirmed anytime soon: it seems that the formalization of the Pixel Fold must wait until the third quarter of 2023, the same period as the future Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. It should be presented only after two other stars of the folding smartphone market: the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 from Samsung, the formalization of which will take place in the summer.
