Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles: “Considering our customers’ demand for a less radical version of the Chiron Pur Sport, we started designing and developing the Chiron Profilée in the fall of 2020. When the prototype of the pre-series production line, all planned production slots for 500 copies of the Chiron have been reserved. We know, however, that what we have created is too good to keep secret. It is – in every sense of the word – a very unique vehicle in the history of Bugatti, a true collector’s item and we want to be able to offer all Bugatti lovers the opportunity to become the proud owner of this model. So we decided to partner with RM Sotheby’s to offer it at auction. »

It’s very rare to see manufacturers put so much time and effort into putting a vehicle into production that can only be made in one copy. But, like any other Bugatti, the Profiled underwent extensive development and a whole battery of tests, which it passed with flying colors. It met all the quality standards – no matter how difficult – that Bugatti applies to each of its models and obtained individual type approval for Europe.

The Profile offers a tailored design with a large fixed rear wing, which fulfills two important functions. Firstly, the wing provides stability and control of the vehicle up to a maximum speed set at 380 km/h, and this, by increasing the downforce on the rear axle, and secondly, it uses negative pressure to absorb the hot air from the engine. compartment through two inner ducts located in the carbon high-temperature wing. Air flows above the wing to generate downforce, but also below the wing to draw air from the engine compartment.

Frank Heyl, Deputy Design Director of Bugatti Automobiles: “Keeping in mind the needs of our customers, we have included a fixed spoiler – wide but elegant – optimized both from an aerodynamic and thermodynamic point of view for offering unparalleled performance while bringing grace and timelessness to the vehicle’s design. This fin replaces the fixed hydraulic deployment fin of the Chiron or the well-known one of the Pur Sport. The name “Profilée” is derived from the Bugatti Type 46 , which was one of Jean Bugatti’s first creations and also featured an elegant inverted stern.

At the front, this unique hyper sports car features enlarged air intakes and a horseshoe grille to channel cooler air to the radiators. A new front splitter works in conjunction with the aero underbody to further increase downforce and maximize airflow. As with all Bugattis, controlling the airflow – which has a cooling effect, reducing drag and downforce – is essential to achieve such extraordinary performance. This is even today the hallmark of modern Bugattis.

Profiled borrows its purity from Pur Sport: as such, it is designed for lateral grip and ultimate acceleration. It’s powered by the same 1,500PS W16 engine, with gear ratios 15% shorter than the Chiron Sport. The Profiled sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 5.5 seconds. It reaches a top speed of 380 km/h, compared to 350 km/h for the Chiron Pur Sport.

Chassis tweaks include revised camber angles of the front and rear wheels, as well as stiffer springs that shift some of the weight to the front of the car. They are 10% stiffer than the Chiron Sport, while the rear axle carries 50% more negative camber, providing better cornering grip, without compromising ride comfort. Profiled combines the best of Pur Sport in an elegant design.

The Profile features bodywork in “Atlantic Silver”, a color developed exclusively for this car. No other Chiron is configured in this shade. The lower part of the car is covered in visible carbon fiber tinted in “Royal Blue Carbon”, a color that already exists in Bugatti’s color chart. The wheels are – too – unique, specially designed, produced and tested for the Profile and finished in a color called “Le Patron”, created to match the carbon that dresses the lower part of the body. Polished aluminum elements bring out the famous Bugatti horseshoe grille.

The Profile’s cabin, built by hand in the Molsheim workshop, is based on the interior design of the Chiron beloved by Bugatti customers. Each part, made from high quality materials such as leather, carbon or solid aluminum, is the result of long hours of manual work to achieve perfection. The design itself is meant to be minimalist, reducing each component to its simplest and most beautiful form.

The Profiled became the first Chiron to feature a woven leather finish on the dashboard, door panels and center console. In total, more than 2,500 meters of leather strips were needed to create this intricate rendering. La Profilée is equipped with comfortable seats in “Gris Rafale” and “Deep Blue” leather, featuring a quilted pattern called “Air Parade”. A black anodized frame embedded in the center console also bears the “Profile” signature, the final touch to this completely unique creation.

The Bugatti Chiron Profilée will be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s on 1eh February 2023. A percentage of sales will be donated to charity.
