The Warriors blow out the Spurs in front of 68,323 spectators!

Concerned Warriors start the match 17-4. It took five minutes to see the Spurs score their first basket of the game. Romeo Langford then launched a 9-0 that revived the Texans but the address outside of Golden State’s alternates allowed them to maintain the lead (33-28).

Passing through this hall in 2018, during the NCAA final, the duo Jordan Poole – Donte DiVincenzo brought home a point and let his team take a 13-point lead by starting the second period with 16-8 (49-36) . Josh Richardson and Doug McDermott kept the Spurs from ambushing but Steve Kerr’s men did not release the pressure and two lay-ups by Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole gave them a 14-point lead at the break (74-60).

Two walkers from Golden State gave the Spurs momentum after returning from the locker room. The latter went back to two possessions but seven straight points from Klay Thompson launched a 23-7 that put the Spurs KO standing (101-79)! The gap reached 25 units at the end of the third quarter and the Warriors ended the game in freewheel to find the way to victory (144-113).

WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER

– The Warriors offense is getting back on balance. After taking nearly 60% of their 3-point shots over their last three games, the Warriors took advantage of San Antonio’s porous defense to attack the circle with dribbles or cuts. On the break, they hit 38% of their shots from the circle, well above their average this season (25%), at 16/19 on shots. They finished the match with 70 key points, 55% shooting success, 33 assists, and eight players over ten points.

– Spurs’ hard learning. This season, Gregg Popovich is playing more of a mentor than a coach for the young Spurs. San Antonio has the worst defense in the league, the second worst record in the Western Conference, and the fourth worst record in the league. The Warriors, coming off a disastrous loss to Phoenix, left them no chance, counting up to 39 points ahead. Their fans, however, have responded and they understand that they are among the favorites to draft Victor Wembanyama next June. One of their fans also led the rush in a black Spurs jersey with the Frenchman’s name on it.

68,323 spectators, a new NBA record. The Spurs celebrated their 50th NBA season by returning to the Alamodome to break the NBA single-game attendance record, currently held by the Hawks at the Georgia Dome for a game against Michael Jordan’s Bulls in 1998 (62,046). The Spurs played in the Alamodome, an American football stadium, from 1993 to 2002. Moreover, the first NBA game in this enclosure was held on November 5, 1993 against the same Golden State Warriors. Several Spurs legends, including David Robinson, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, were on hand to mark the historic night.
