Unveiled to great fanfare at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019 before restyling is introduced in 2023, the Volkswagen ID.3 is the first model in the ID electric range. This compact electric sedan is directly inspired by a concept car, the Volkswagen ID Concept. However, it was actually a production car, selling several thousand copies in France every year since its release. Presentation and size
The ID.3 is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform. It measures 4.26 meters in length, 1.81 meters in width and 1.55 meters in height. Its wheelbase measures approximately 2.77 meters. One piece, its design is built around the passengers, with short overhangs, a stretched passenger compartment, a grille-less front end, IQ headlamps. This Volkswagen ID.3 is available in three different versions. The first is the ID.3 Pro, which generates 145 horsepower for 275 Nm of torque. It has a 58 kWh battery, for an electric range of 417 kilometers.
The second version is the ID.3 Pro Performance, which features a 204 horsepower electric motor for 310 Nm of torque. It allows to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The battery has a capacity of 58 kWh, which offers an electric range of 425 kilometers according to the WLTP homologation cycle.
The third version of this car is the ID.3 Pro S. The power does not change, but the battery gets a capacity that reaches 77 kWh. This brings the electric range to 549 kilometers. In any case, the ID.3 has a regenerative braking system that recovers range when descending. The recharge of this model is possible with alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC) up to 125 kW of power, to recover 350 kilometers in 30 minutes.

Described as an open space, the interior of the Volkswagen ID.3 places the driver and passengers at the same height. Five passengers can fit in the Pro Performance model, but the Pro S model is reserved for four people. A heat pump is offered as an option to not eat too much autonomy in cold weather.
The dashboard presentation of the ID.3 is marked by a compact 5.3-inch screen that can be operated via touch zones located on the steering wheel. The gear selector is located on the right of the screen. A 10-inch touchscreen is located in the center of the dashboard, to display the infotainment system. The voice assistant can also be activated by saying the phrase “Bonjour ID”. Finally, an augmented reality head-up display is available as an option, it is projected onto the windshield. The trunk volume reaches 385 liters, or 1,267 liters with the rear seats folded.
