De’Aaron Fox stuns Jazz in last second!

Lauri Markkanen thought he had given his team the victory with an improbable final 3-point shot, on one foot and at the bell, after a quarterback pass from Jarred Vanderbilt! But, after video review, his shot was cancelled, arriving too late, by a few hundredths of a second…

Instead of a heroic victory, the Jazz had to settle for a (new) wire loss against Sacramento (117-115), after December 31 (126-125), unable to stop the layup that won De’Aaron Fox with 0.4 seconds left.

Unstoppable in the final quarter, with 22 of his 37 points in total, the Kings point guard made a splash with some high-class actions, including a spectacular dunk and a mid-range shot to repeat drive the Jazz away again.

It must be said that the latter had to chase the score throughout the third quarter, and even into the fourth. Sacramento led in this case by +7 with 3 minutes 30 left but Jordan Clarkson and Lauri Markkanen pushed to get back close and tie it a few more times.

Despite 28 points from Lauri Markkanen, along with a perfect 15/15 on the throws, Utah had to bow out for the fifth straight time. Another upset loss for Utah, which has lost its last five games by a minimal margin of 17 points. Infuriating!

WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER

– A very intense finish to the match. The NBA made no mistake about it, devoting an entire video to the stunning finish of this match! At -7 more than 3 minutes from the end of the match, Utah tied with 20 seconds from the buzzer, after a great layup from Mike Conley, then three shots full of composure from Lauri Markkanen. At the same time, the Kings also did not give their share to the dog, with a De’Aaron Fox more clutch than ever, present at all levels in the attack: dunk, layup or shot from mid-range. In this case, it was on the final layup 0.4 seconds from the end that he would make the difference… After canceling the extremes of Lauri Markkanen’s incredible shot, which came a little too late!

– De’Aaron Fox’s last quarter madness. Author of 22 points on 9/10 shots in the final period, he is unstoppable, elusive with his combination of speed and technique. Only three players have done better this season in a 3rd quarter: Darius Garland (27 points), Joel Embiid (26 points) and Jayson Tatum (23 points).

TOPS/FLOPS

De’Aaron Fox. It’s the third time this season that De’Aaron Fox has reached 37 points, but this was perhaps his most impressive game of the three, with a real display of mastery in the final quarter with his 22 points at 9/10 in the shots.

Domantas Sabonis. Despite his thumb injury, the Lithuanian continues to perform miracles. After his perfect game at 12/12 on shots, the Baltic interior put together another impressive double-double with 21 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists, all on an excellent 8/13 on shots.

✅ ⛔ Lauri Markkanen. The unfortunate hero of the night had little remorse in himself for the last action. His shot on one leg is a model of its kind… Before that, the Finnish interior was amazed at the throw line with a perfect 15/15, for 28 points and 8 rebounds. Unfortunately, he was unable to set sights from distance (1/7 from 3-pointers).

Kelly Olynyk. Facing Domantas Sabonis, a former Gonzaga like himself, Kelly Olynyk suffered martyrdom. Limited to 5 points, along with 6 rebounds and 4 assists, the Canadian interior was almost torn apart on shots with 2/7 including 1/4 from distance. A poor performance that hurt in a tight match…
