Celtics fall to OKC: 150 points collected!

The Celtics’ “road trip” in the West turned sour because Joe Mazzulla’s players lost last night in OKC: a 33-point loss, 150 points conceded and even an expulsion! It was just their worst performance of the season, but the Thunder were without their star player, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

In the wake of Jaylen Brown, Boston seemed to get the game on the right end, with a small point advantage after one quarter (34-33). But the rest will be a nightmare…

In the last rounds, the 2022 finalists suffered the law of Isaiah Joe and the two Williams (Kenrich and Jalen). Under the panels, the absence of Robert Williams offered boulevards, and at the break, the Thunder took a 20-point lead (74-54)!

Back from the locker room, there was no sense of rebellion on the Boston side, which suffered 10-0! Josh Giddey was responsible for the score to pass the gap to +25, then Jalen Williams, with a dunk, crossed the 30-point gap at the end of the 3rd quarter. The mass was said, and the Boston coach left his substitutes on the ground, while the Thunder won its biggest victory of the season (+33).

WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER

The firing of Marcus Smart. The stage of the region with Blake Griffin, the leader of Boston will not hide a good memory of his annual visit to OKC. Furax after the arbitration at the end of the 3rd quarter, he received a second procedure, and he was expelled. His coach jumped on him to stop it from getting worse.

Franchise Notes. Lu Dort’s teammates set themselves a franchise record with 150 points scored. Unheard of since the franchise moved to Oklahoma in 2008. Another record: 48 points scored in the 3rd quarter.

TOPS/FLOPS

Josh Giddey. Always a treat to watch with his ease of passing and his attacking opportunism.

The Mann/Joe duo. 21 points each for the shooters from the bench. They combined to go 8 of 15 from 3-pointers to spread the game, and offer more avenues to their teammates.

Boston Home Defense. Rarely have we seen a Celtics so static and “disconnected” on defense. The absence of Robert Williams does not explain everything. Leaders like Marcus Smart and Al Horford were completely shocked.
