The multimedia test of the versatile Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable
The concept of the Microsoft Surface tablet version takes its full meaning in the Lenovo ThinkPad X12 G1, or first generation, according to its manufacturer. For a 12-inch screen, this device weighs just 1.1 kg with its detachable keyboard. It is also really designed to be used in tablet mode only….
Of course, when you unpack this complete PC, you can’t help but think of Microsoft Surface tablets that sometimes became more compact and lighter, like the old version of RT… But be careful, the ultra- This transformable hides an Intel Core processor 11 generation iT with Iris Xe circuit and 16 GB of RAM for SSD that can reach GB…
Good ending
The first impression was very positive, as we saw the level of finish and the principles that made ThinkPads successful, such as the small red pointer placed below the GH keys and above the B. A must for lovers of this little peripheral that must be tamed if not…
The stand on the back of the tablet (which benefits from being notched) allows you to adjust the tilt of the screen. In front of the latter, the detachable keyboard is pressed thanks to a magnetic system, which ensures its good inclination and allows it to be one of the IPS Gorilla Glas 5 display with Full HD type resolution.
Windows 11 compatible
The system has started, we are updating it to the latest version of Windows 10 Pro. Unlike other models from Lenovo, there is no message telling us that it is compatible with Windows 11, so I download the PC Health utility and run it on this test device. Verdict: the machine launched this year is compatible…
On the hardware side, note in addition to the 11th generation Intel i7 processor (up to 2.1 GHz and 16 GB in the model tested), two USB-C ports, namely: 1x Thunderbolt and 41x USB 3, 2 Type- C in addition to the slot of NanoSIM and the integrated headphone and microphone audio audio jack. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 support connectivity.

A keyboard with feedback
After this initial grip, we are led to try the “folio” keyboard whose keys are well spaced and have a certain resistance. Due to the type of keyboard, there are small movements during the stroke and a noise that can be greater than a conventional laptop.
Nothing can be said about the trackpad of good quality and the ThinkPad pointer: efficient and accurate. Above, three keys mimic the options available on a conventional mouse; enough to access all features without restriction. In short. A great overall experience.
Excellent video
On the image and video side, we see that the two sensors of five (with privacy shutter) and eight million pixels produce good images and are rather acceptable in low light. This Lenovo ThinkPad x12 is capable of shooting in Full HD at 30 frames per second.
In the internet browser, it is no problem to access the highest resolution of YouTube thanks to the graphics part iRis Xe from Intel. So we read 4K, especially on an external screen connected to an adapter. Otherwise, the Full HD display of this tablet is pleasant and of good quality. Dolby sound is enjoyable.
Tablet mode and stylus
Modular, this concentrate of technology can be used in tablet mode only. And there, I must admit that the result is very successful. In hand, this 12.3-inch screen weighs just 760 grams, bringing it close to the best traditional tablets. Especially since the touch part of Windows 10 is very successful. Convenient for surfing and accessing news sites and viewing PDFs.
On the right side of the keyboard, Lenovo has placed a fairly simple black rubber band to attach the stylus that comes with the device. An ideal accessory for entering text the traditional way because character recognition is still just as effective under Windows 10! Also ideal for graphically signing some documents.
Power and autonomy
On a daily basis, we see the excellent response from the device guaranteed by Windows 10, famous for its complete startup in just a few seconds thanks to a 512 GB SSD in the model reviewed. Sometimes wondering about the start time of Apple machines … Side autonomy, we can expect about 10 hours of video playback.
Ultimately, this modern and versatile machine won us over with its overall build and versatility. Available from 1700 francs, it is mainly intended for professional customers, but can also satisfy demanding individuals who want all the advantages of a good office machine with the advantages of a tablet and stylus delivered with…
