They won’t be available outside of China until 2023, but the Lenovo Glasses T1 (which will be called the Lenovo Yoga Glasses in China) looks set to help out at IFA. Described as a “portable private display for consuming content on the go”, these glasses are compatible with USB-C smartphones, tablets, and laptops, and will connect to Lightning-equipped iOS devices via of adapters.

Resembling a real pair of glasses, Glasses T1 are equipped with interchangeable nose clips and adjustable temples to optimize comfort. They also support custom corrective lenses with removable frames. The branches also accommodate a pair of speakers, as well as buttons for adjusting the volume, screen brightness and color temperature. The virtual screen, which can be anchored to a fixed point in space or move with your head, is provided by micro-OLED technology with a resolution of 1080 pixels per eye, a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a 10: 000:1 contrast ratio.

T1 glasses can be used in particular for mobile games, but they will also give professionals on the move the possibility of having a “personal monitor in their pocket”. They also have privacy benefits: “Using Lenovo Glasses T1, workers have a private workspace to avoid ‘shoulder surfing’,” says Lenovo.

The second-generation ThinkPad X1 Fold offers more screen real estate than its 13.3-inch predecessor, thanks to a 16.3-inch 4:3 OLED touchscreen, which folds down into a 12-inch screen for use in a magnetically attached keyboard in laptop mode.

Not only is the screen bigger, but the sides are thinner (~10mm) and the device is thinner when open (8.6mm) and folded (17.4mm). Like the original model, the ThinkPad X1 Fold 2022 is durable enough to pass the MIL-STD-810H test.

Inside, the 2022 ThinkPad X1 Fold runs Windows 11 on 12-series Intel U-series processorse generation (up to Core i7 with vPro) with up to 32 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of SSD storage. Intel’s Iris Xe graphics card, integrated with the processor, takes care of the graphics.

As well as being bigger, sleeker and more powerful (while remaining fanless), the new X1 Fold has impressive sustainability credentials. The removable back cover is made from 100% recycled performance fabric, and post-consumer materials are used in the speaker enclosures, power supply, and compostable outer packaging.

This versatile foldable device supports multiple modes of operation, under the guidance of Lenovo’s Mode Switcher interface: classic clamshell mode with a 12-inch main screen and a virtual or physical keyboard below; landscape or portrait mode with the 16.3-inch screen fully open and placed on a magnetic mounting support; and two handheld modes – book and tablet.

The new ThinkPad X1 Fold is also the first to include an improved version of Intel’s Visual Sensing Controller (VSC), which manages the 5 MP webcam to provide automatic framing, “wake-on-approach” authentication, the “walk-away-lock ” and “discovery onlooker”, among other useful functions.
