Pistons surprise full Nuggets!

Despite reigning double MVP Nikola Jokic returning to action, along with Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, the Nuggets lost to the valiant Pistons to end their ugly seven-game losing streak (110-108).

Several times tempted to go away, including a test in the first quarter, countered by 16-6 from the Nuggets to return to the top, or the other 13-1 at the beginning of the last quarter, the Pistons were the aggressors all night.

Carried by their bench, including an excellent Alec Burks (21 points in 21 minutes) in shape for his return to his university that went to Colorado and Kevin Knox (17 points, 8 rebounds), Detroit had 12 points lead at the start. last quarter but it was written that their first fight for victory of the season would be complicated until the end…

Brought back to -2 on a hook shot from Nikola Jokic, back after three games away due to Covid, the Nuggets finally had to surrender after a final (voluntary) miss from Jamal Murray on the throws, which did of Aaron Gordon to recover. in the circle after the offensive rebound.

WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER

The Pistons’ first away win. If it took a long time to take shape, and it was difficult to give birth after ten consecutive failures, the Pistons finally won a game away this season! They owe a lot to Bogdanovic and Burks (7 of his 21 points in the final quarter), their two cold-blooded veterans who returned clutch shots late in the game. But they also owe it to their bench that dominated the Nuggets (53 to 22)!

Denver misses the mark. While Denver’s starting five finished with 10 or more points, including a very effective 17 and 18 points from Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. respectively, with 31 units for Jokic, it is in the back line that it remains a combined 7/22 in shots for the duo Murray – Caldwell-Pope. That along with a somewhat disappointing performance from the bench (discussed above), and you have a disappointing loss for the Nuggets who had a chance to take control of the conference. Instead, they were… 7th!

TOPS/FLOPS

Alec Burks. Injured early in the season, the veteran Burks had played in just five games before that night. But, having passed the University of Colorado, he wanted to mark the occasion. It finished with 21 points, including 7 decisive in the last quarter, with his first win of the season and his team’s first away game.

Kevin Knox. Averaging 2 points, 1 rebound this season, Kevin Knox hasn’t had much of a chance to see the boards. But, last night, the former Knicks and Hawks came through, with a solid performance of 17 points and 8 rebounds, all on an excellent 8/11 shooting. It was his second straight game of 20 minutes or more (and his second of 10 or more points).

Nikola Jokic. The reigning double MVP doesn’t have much to blame himself for this loss for his return to competition. The Serbian pivot actually came close to a triple-double with 31 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds, with an impressive 12/17 on shots. The only downside? His 7/11 in throws… Four valuable points lost along the way!

Jamal Murray. Back in action after missing two games, he looked rusty offensively with just 10 points (along with 8 assists) on just 3/12 shots and no shots from 3-pointers (0/2).
