In Miami, Kyle Lowry does more than resist

Do not rely on Kyle Lowry to protect themselves in the middle of the storm. The streak of injuries the Heat are going through is hurting Erik Spoelstra, who has to rack his brain to find a solution with skill players.

Tonight in Washington, it was Max Strus’ turn to miss the call, hit in the shoulder. That’s why Kyle Lowry is at risk of rebounding, he who has chained extended games in recent days, between his 51 minutes played in the overtime loss at Washington or his exit at 44 minutes in the second game of the back-to -back to Balloons on the floor. The veteran leader is not holding back on himself, even to the point of being Miami’s player who plays the most this season: more than 36 minutes per game!

“I can’t say enough about Kyle Lowry and that’s why he has this reputation as a winner. He also talks about his issues, but he says, ‘I’m available, Coach. For whatever you want you to me. If you need me to play 48 minutes, I’ll play 48 minutes”appreciated Erik Spoelstra on the sidelines of tonight’s meeting.

The definition of a professional

In this crisis situation, forcing the coach to suggest his injured players return early, Kyle Lowry fulfilled his role as a veteran and a leader by setting an example.

“It’s about playing basketball and doing my job at the highest level possible. I don’t know how long I can play basketball. I want to play. I still love it and I’m happy to do it,” he confessed.

So far, despite everyone’s best efforts to try to make up for the absences, Miami is stuck with four straight losses on this perilous “road trip.” Kyle Lowry is inevitably out of his 20-year-old legs and he’s struggling on offense, with a 30% success rate. But his impeccable attitude can only be praised by his teammates.

“He is a true professional”identified Bam Adebayo, another contender who has been called upon to play more in these conditions. “I feel like that’s the definition of Kyle, able to play despite some injuries, at his age, playing back-to-back. I respect that. It says a lot about his character and what he stands for. Even when guys are injured, he still wants to go on the field, perform and try to win for us.

Tonight again for receiving Washington, Gabe Vincent, Tyler Herro, Victor Oladipo, Max Strus, Jimmy Butler, Duncan Robinson, Udonis Haslem, Omer Yurtseven have been forfeited.
