Great rivalry in Oregon since the leader of the Western conference accepted his runner-up, and the Jazz, but back-to-back, won, 118-113 thanks to Jordan Clarkson’s brilliant shot in “money time”. Still trailing by 10 points (101-91) seven minutes from the end, the Blazers were able to pick up the score thanks to Josh Hart and Anfernee Simons.
Always good and fair, Drew Eubanks even gave Portland the advantage at the start of “money time” (106-105). But Clarkson would take the game in hand and score eight points in a row! In one minute, the Jazz increased the gap (115-109) to finally win 118-113 and regain control of the Western Conference.
WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER
– Damian Lillard’s return. Just when we thought he was done with his physical problems, the All-Star point guard headed straight to the locker room midway through the 3rd quarter. Alas, the right calf is bulging again, and right now, the franchise is saying it’s a contracture.
– Mike Conley was also affected. Moments before Lillard, Conley also entered the locker room. After touching a screen, he grabbed his left knee, and he left his teammates. After the meeting, the staff was quite optimistic. It will be a simple hit.
– Two spectators were ejected. While everyone is preoccupied with Jared Vanderbilt’s injury, Collin Sexton is confused by a Blazers fan. Security intervened and removed the two spectators.
✅ Jordan Clarkson. He asks his teammates for the ball, and he takes responsibility. As Portland took control, he signed, single-handedly, 8-1 to give the Jazz victory. 3-points, lay-up complicated by foul, half-distance shot. He did it all in a minute!
✅ Malik Beasley 56 points in two nights for Clarkson’s replacement off the bench. After going 7 of 12 from 3-pointers the day before against the Suns, he returned it to 6 of 14. The most important thing is that he hits in key moments or at the end of possessions to demoralize the defense.
✅ Talen Horton-Tucker. It’s a “puncher”! Defensively, he leads by example, and on the other side of the field, he tries to attack the defense. This is the X factor of the night.
✅ Jusuf Nurkic. Long at 100% on shots, Nurkic dominates physically in the paint with his little “hook shoot” but also with his ability to release good balls. He also hit the bull’s eye from a distance. Probably not used enough when he took the ascendancy.
⛔️ Damian Lillard. Nightmare night for the All-Star point guard. Before going out with the injury, he was 2 of 14 on shots, including 1 of 12 from 3-pointers.
