On Twitch, Amine’s France-Spain match breaks records

ENTERTAINMENT – This is a new record for French-speaking Twitch. With a peak of almost 1.2 million people in front of their screens and 20,000 spectators gathered in a Parisian stadium, France-Spain, the real football match between “streamers entered the history of the French web this Saturday, November 19. This event called “Eleven All Stars” and organized by AmineMaTué thus dethroned GP Explorer and its million viewers in real time, the former benchmark.

The score is anecdotal (France won 2-0) and its “Eleven All Stars” level. The important thing is elsewhere: these video game players who share and comment on their games live in front of thousands of viewers are now organizing their own sports competitions between content creator. And they attract an audience worthy of major traditional competitions.

“ We want to show you values, content in a healthy way”, supported the organizer AmineMaTué in an emotional speech. On Twitter, the journalist Samuel Étienne, who also used the streaming platform, was welcomed “the beauty of the French stream” and a new record “unbelievable”.

In October, GP Explorer, a car race on a circuit organized by youtuber Squeezie and his team, brought almost 40,000 spectators to the stands of the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans and a million viewers on Twitch. 22 pilots “influencers” then competed in a 15-lap Grand Prix in Formula 4 cars.

A strong signal sent to the professional leagues

On the eve of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, French and Spanish streamers this time organized a first football match of that magnitude. On the spot, we can imagine ourselves in front of the professionals. The Jean-Bouin stadium, a stone’s throw from the Parc des Princes is sold out (seats sold between 15 and 53 euros), has referees and includes video refereeing equipment, 24 cameras, sponsors on the grass and on Twitch platform, as well as a media partner: Canal+.

Without forgetting the faces known to football fans. Like the commentator Alexandre Ruiz, a former chief face of beIN Sport, and on the grass the troublemaker of Canal + Laurent Paganelli. “bump” thus carrying out, as he usually does, in his heightened style, his interviews with the players on the bench during the match.

And there was bad behavior: heavy contact between players, a red card for a Spaniard and opposing players attacking a linesman, forcing the organizers not to play the last minute which became too tense.

On the grass, the stars of Twitch and wider social networks are there: AmineMaTué and his 1.4 million Twitch followers of course, in the center forward position, like the star Youtuber Carlito in central defense, but also Michou , Inoxtag, Domingo or the former FIFA world champion Bruce Grannec. In Spain’s line-up, DjMaRiiO, well-known Youtuber, was also there.

As a bonus, a mini-rap concert, with big names like Niska and Gazo, among others, served as the curtain call. A strong signal sent to the professional leagues, which sometimes struggle to attract the public excited this Saturday before the battle of the streamers.
