In delicacy since the start of the season, Klay Thompson has known himself more for his off-field declensions than his performances. And they’re far from being completely united… The Splash Brother’s last outing notably got him atomized.
Without a doubt, this was one of the best stories of last season. Returning in January 2022 after a two-and-a-half-year absence, Klay Thompson quickly regained his starting spot with the Warriors and was instrumental in the title quest. The fairy tale seems to have ended now, however, as the back has not been at his best since the beginning of the season (14 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists on average).
Symbolic of his struggle, his percentages in free fall (35% including 33% from distance) and the defense of No. 11 is strawberry, which has earned him a lot of criticism within the Dubs fanbase. A trend he really didn’t like, he who had worked so hard for so many months to get back to the top level. Recently interviewed by The Athletic, so Killa Klay took the opportunity to make amends with his detractors. Strong words, proof that Stephen Curry’s teammate is fed up.
Klay Thompson isn’t happy with the criticism of his game
I feel like I deserve more credit for overcoming all that damage. I helped a team win a title last year and people still want to discredit what you do. You know what I learned about it? You can’t please everyone. But for me, individually, it’s about rediscovering the form of excellence and the performance on both sides of the pitch that made me a great player. And I feel like I’m on the right track. I have no doubt in my mind that I will get back in shape.
A speech that he has been holding for weeks, he also caused a small controversy about the video game NBA2K who did not respect him in his note. The problem is that days have passed and KT can’t seem to justify his statements, while Jordan Poole confirmed his hopes last season (17 points and 4 average assists from the bench). Steve Kerr is keeping the veteran in the major five for now, but fans want that to change:
Dude seriously needs to pull himself together and accept a new role on the team. Good for him for recovering from horrible injuries, but he’s not as good as he used to be. It must be hard for him to move on, but it’s best for the team if he does

This person seriously needs to question himself and accept a new role in the team. It’s good for him to recover from the gruesome injury, but he’s not as good as he used to be. It’s hard for him to move on, but it’s better for the team if he does.
Giving him credit for past success is earned. Backing up an undisputed starting role with 30+ min and shooting 33% from the field on career high attempts? Not so much….

Giving him credit for his past successes is well deserved. Back up his role as the undisputed starter with more than 30 minutes of play and a shooting percentage of 33% when he hasn’t shot that much in his career? Not really….
Klay must be the biggest cry baby in the NBA trying to get recognition. Athletes are always trying to come back from injury, so it’s not something special that he’s doing. If he doesn’t want to come back, he can withdraw. This was after crying about not being top 75, which he wasn’t.

Klay has to be the biggest whiner in the NBA trying to get recognition. Athletes are always trying to come back from injury, so it’s not something special that he’s doing. If he doesn’t want to come back, he can retire. This was after crying that he wasn’t in the top 75, which he wasn’t.
Klay Thompson feels he deserves more respect, despite his disappointing start to the season. The best way to get it, however, is back in the saddle. That won’t hurt Golden State, which also experienced a significant ignition delay in 2022-23.
