The Hawks took down the Bucks’ nest

While the Warriors are still looking for victory on the outside, on the other side of the United States, the Hawks won the most difficult victories on the road as they won 121-106 in Milwaukee. It was the first time the Bucks had lost at home, and this loss allowed the Celtics to tie for first place in the Eastern Conference. It should be noted that three holders are missing: Khris Middleton, Pat Connaughton and Jrue Holiday.

But the Hawks were serious from start to finish, and they took control from the start with defensive stops that turned into easy baskets. After four minutes, Atlanta (15-7) escaped and Mike Budenholzer took the first time-out. The Bucks responded thanks to their “second unit”, but Atlanta succeeded in its subject in search for the easy basket, and of course the shots of brilliance from Trae Young.

In fact, the Bucks only stayed in touch thanks to free throws: 24 shots to 8 at the break! But the Hawks were better, and the Collins-Young duo went 9-2 to widen the gap again. At halftime, Atlanta took a 13-point lead (63-50).

In the 3rd quarter, the Hawks opened up their basketball with DeAndre Hunter and Clint Capela finishing, or Young sending Collins to the alley-oop. The gap continues to grow to reach 18 points (76-58). The Bucks’ attempt was “running” but Murray was responsible for containing any comeback attempt. The gap yo-yoed, but midway through the final quarter, Atlanta regained an 18-point lead (103-85) to pull away for an easy victory (121-106).

WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER

Alert for Giannis. Dressed in civilian clothes, Jrue Holiday put his hands to his face. In the Fiserv Forum, there is no sound. Giannis Antetokounmpo is on the ground, and he’s holding his ankle. In a harmless act, he stepped on Jalen Johnson’s foot. More fear than doom because he will stay in the game. But keep in mind that the “Greek Freak” has only missed three fights with a sore knee…

The Hawks collective. In addition to the anti-Giannis plan that consisted of showing him a wall with a Collins-Capela-Hunter “frontline”, Atlanta relied on his passing game to make the difference. Both Trae Young and Dejounte Murray had to play off the rest, and we saw a lot of shot fakes, followed by dribbles to create space, pursue the defense, and serve to the unmarked player.

TOPS/FLOPS

Dejounte Murray. He set the tone for the game by taking the opposing leader very high. His aggressiveness disrupted the Bucks’ offense, pushing him away from the racket. A complete game for him, more focused on the attack when the Bucks tried to rebel.

Clint Capela. He is the boss of the racket, like the Brook Lopez counterpart. It plays only in attack, and becomes a control tower in defense. The Swiss brings a real base to complete the spine with Murray and Hunter.

Marjon Beauchamp. He gains confidence in meetings, and he hardly breaks anything. There is a 7th or 8th man spot up for grabs when the injured return.

⛔️ Giannis Antetokounmpo. Rusty after spending part of the week in the infirmary, Giannis was off tempo, and he still had a lot of problems against the Hawks. Result, 8 of 21 on shots, 8 stray bullets, and even 6 fouls!
