Against the Thunder, Boston won its seventh straight victory

Unstoppable for almost two weeks, with a six-game winning streak, the Celtics added a seventh last night, against the Thunder (126-122). A difficult victory, as the Massachusetts players almost punished themselves for their stupidity.

Good luck for Bostonled by his trio Jayson Tatum (27 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks) — Jaylen Brown (26 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) — Marcus Smart (22 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists), the teammates of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (37 points, 8 assists) slumped in the fourth quarter, despite leading most of the game.

A pretty harsh setback for GO ON, can go eye-to-eye with a title contender. Certainly enough, therefore, but still able to speed up at the end, to get the victory.

WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER

The streak continues for Boston. Seventh straight victory for the Celtics who, in the beautiful atmosphere of the TD Garden, found a way to defeat the Thunder in the fourth quarter (37-26). It was anything but a cakewalk for Joe Mazzulla’s men, who needed a good half hour to get going and eventually get the upper hand over their visitors. Even out of the way, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s teammates can be happy to say that the essentials have been secured, despite all…

OKC can be blamed. Typically the type of meeting where experience plays a big role, as the Thunder’s young guard let himself be caught in the stakes, finishing in the final action. Leading by 15 points in the third quarter, Mark Daigneault’s men gradually became frustrated together, making too many turnovers that the Celtics, who were not asked for much, were able to feed off. A heartbreaking fall, as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his family drew offense first, in the first period, to blow up Boston’s defense, not the area.

TOPS/FLOPS

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. New high-class service from “SGA”, which nothing and seemingly nothing can stop this season. First supported by the attractive Luguentz Dort (21 points, 5 rebounds), Aleksej Pokusevski (16 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks) and Jalen Williams (14 points, 6 rebounds), to see the Thunder in control, the Canadian then had to fight for himself, like an adult, to allow his team to exist until the end. Aggressive, in control and all around good shots, he really doesn’t slow down as the days go by and is always a real pleasure to watch him play.

Marcus Smart. If Derrick White (16 points, 5 assists, 4 steals) and Payton Pritchard (10 points) brought a welcome boost coming off the bench, especially in the second half to pack the game, we prefer to highlight the good performance of the title ” Defender of the Year”. Author of 20 of his 22 points after the break, he really came out of his box at the best of times, assuming the leadership of the Celtics in front of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, to get some decisive action in the final minutes. While showing himself as often important, defensively.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s Trash. If they certainly did their statistics, the “to Jay” also spoiled a lot today: 9/23 on shots and 1/9 on 3-pts for Tatum, 0/5 on 3-pts and 5 bullet losses for Brown. Obviously not at their best, they obviously took this match a bit too far, getting backhanded a few times in defense and not really finding their stride in attack. Fortunately, the Celtics have a true collective back, able to compensate for the nights without their two All-Stars.

Josh Giddey. A day after his second triple-double at Madison Square Garden, the Australian had a harder time manipulating the Celtics’ defense. While he certainly compiled 16 points and 7 rebounds, at the same time he posted an ugly 6/17 on shots (including 1/6 on 3-pts), in addition to committing 7 ball losses (only for 4 assists to be decided). A complex performance, therefore, from one of the two Thunder masters, outplayed by Marcus Smart, Derrick White and others.
