veterans in poverty and young people showing themselves

We’re going back to basics this season! Every Sunday, you’ll find here everything you need to know about French in the NBA, so you don’t miss anything from Killian Hayes’ triple-singles or Rudy Gobert’s new life with his pack of Wolves. This Sunday ? The veterans are struggling and the youngsters are showing themselves.

# RUDY GOBERT

Placed in the COVID protocol last week, Rudy is back in business but hasn’t solved the Wolves’ (5-8) current woes. Fortunately, right now we are on November 13th and therefore there is no lake fire and Rudy is doing what he knows is best at the moment, namely snowshoe work. At risk of shocking people who haven’t watched any Wolves games this season? Come on, let’s read: Rudy Gobert is not responsible for his team’s bad start to the season.

  • Wolves vs. Knicks: DNP
  • Wolves vs Suns: 25 points on 8/11 shooting and 9/11 throwing, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks in 30 minutes
  • Wolves @ Grizzlies: 15 points on 5/5 shooting and 5/5 throwing, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in 35 minutes

# EVAN FOURNIER

It’s a bit of a loss for Evan Fournier, who is not only gone from the five but also from… the Knicks’ rotation, or not far from it. No confidence or rhythm in attack, useless in defense to stay respectable, in other words a big down for the Frenchman, who needs to recover very quickly to avoid turning this 2022-23 season into a nightmare. And given the consideration Tom Thibodeau seems to have for him, we’re on the verge of wishing he’d come back … somewhere other than New York.

  • Knicks @ Wolves: 2 points on 1/3 shooting including 0/2 from the parking lot, 1 rebound, 3 assists and 2 steals in 12 minutes
  • Knicks @ Nets: 6 points on 2/7 shooting including 2/5 from the field, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 game in 20 minutes
  • Knicks vs Pistons: 3 points on 0/5 shooting including 0/3 from the parking lot and 3/4 on throws, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in 12 minutes

# NICOLAS BATUM

We know that Nico’s scoring averages do not reflect his contribution or his level, but it is clear that this week the captain of the French team sprayed like a fireman. Two wins and two losses, the Clippers whose barometer is called Paul George, but Nico continues in any case to be an important pawn in Tyronn Lue’s rotation. In addition, he went against Kevin Durant, so the week was successful.

  • Clippers vs Jazz: 3 points in 1/3 from the parking lot, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block in 23 minutes
  • Clippers vs Cavs: 3 points on 1/4 shooting including 1/3 from the parking lot, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 15 minutes
  • Clippers vs Lakers: 2 points on 0/1 from the parking lot and 2/2 on throws, 6 rebounds and 1 assist in 16 minutes
  • Clippers vs Nets: 0 points to 0/5 shooting including 0/3 from the parking lot, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks in 18 minutes

# FRANK NTILIKINA

4 minutes against the Wizards and 3 missed spells on Washington’s defense. The ankle is better but not the wrist, we’re moving because the irreplaceable but tired Luka Doncic still has a few more minutes to go.

  • Mavericks @ Wizards: 0 points on 0/3 parking, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in 4 minutes
  • Mavericks vs. Blazers: DNP

#KILLIAN HAYES

The nice surprise of the week! Like Evan Fournier last season, Kiki will have to face Boston every week and the Frenchie will automatically be a candidate for the MVP trophy. Two big games against the C’s, a not bad game against the Knicks in between, and the young leader finally seems to have found his rhythm and a little confidence. Cade Cunningham was out and Killian happily earned a starting spot last night, I hope it lasts as the greatest poet of this century would say.

#THEO MALEDON

LaMelo Ball’s return last night didn’t hinder his play and vice versa. Every year Theo can impose himself this season as a real back-up in the 1/2 position, he has a way in any case. On a two-way contract with the Hornets, Tété could also play with the Greensboro Swarm, but for now it seems Steve Clifford is counting on him with the NBA group. Cool cool
