The Grizzlies made life difficult against the Wizards

Quietly, the Grizzlies are on the podium of the Western Conference, and tonight they won their 7th victory in ten games, winning 103-97 against the Wizards who lost Bradley Beal. A complex victory since Washington made the best start (9-0), and it was not until good passages from Brandon Clarke, who was well served by Santi Aldama, and Jake Laravia that the Grizzlies controlled the 2nd quarter- time. Ja Morant and Desmond Bane took over, and at the break, Memphis was up: 57-43.

The gap will reach 23 points after returning from the locker room thanks to Clarke and Bane. We think the Grizzlies were quietly on their way to victory except the Wizards suddenly woke up to go… 19-0!

With a few minutes left, Memphis’ lead was just two measly points. The quality of the fourth quarter was high, and Washington even passed in front (87-85)! In the end it was through their defense that the Grizzlies were able to repel the Wizards. In seven minutes, Monte Morris’ teammates scored only four points. Ja Morant got most of it with a Eurostep to get rid of Porzingis, and Memphis won 103-97.

WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER

Quick foul by Kristaps Porzingis. Without Bradley Beal, the Wizards offense relied more on Kristaps Porzingis, and under his leadership, and that of Monte Morris, Washington got off to a much better start. But the Latvian picked up two fouls in six minutes, and he will remain on the bench for 12 minutes. When he left, Washington led 17-8. Upon his return, Memphis took a 13-point lead (45-32).

The Steven Adams effect. Sprained ankle early in the third quarter, he left his teammates at +15. He was in care for a long time, before finally returning in the middle of the 4th quarter. When he returned, the Wizards were ahead! But his presence is important, and Washington will approach a wall.

TOPS and FLOPS

Desmond Bane. A few matches he found his best level, and his accuracy hurt the Wizards: 28 points on 9 of 16 shots.

Brandon Clarke. He woke up the Grizzlies in the early part of his activity and his hands. He misses the easiest of a dunk, but he finishes 7 of 8 on shots.

Monte Morris. A real poison in the beginning of the match against a Ja Morant in extreme difficulty. He always breaks the first curtain. Not so comfortable against Tyus Jones.

⛔️ Kristaps Porzingis. He didn’t like the tough fight that Steven Adams imposed, and his two quick fouls got him out of the game. 3 of 13 on shots for the Latvian who, like his teammates, has no compass in his eye on 3-points: 1 of 6.
