Carrefour is offering Dacias for €4 per day, here’s how to take advantage of them

Is it possible to stop at a Carrefour car rental agency and drive away with a Dacia, while paying only 4 euros a day? This weekend, the large distribution company that has 850 rental agencies in France was announced an unparalleled new paper offering. To cope with the decline in household purchasing power in these difficult times, and to guarantee access to mobility for all, Carrefour offers a 5-seater Dacia Sandero (with manual gearbox), the cheapest new car on the market (from 11,490 euros).

So inevitably, for a rental of 4 euros per day where other rental agencies sometimes charge ten times more, it makes sense to ask. Would you really pay 4 euros per day? In order to remain the most profitable, Carrefour added several conditions and additional costs. It should also be noted that the number of vehicles is certainly not very large, since not all rental agencies will have them. In a press release, Carrefour wrote: “This rental service is designed to adapt to customers’ real consumption as well as their daily needs for more freedom in managing their budget”.

The conditions for renting a Dacia at 4 euros/day

Renting a 5-seater Dacia Sandero at Carrefour requires several conditions to be met that will increase the fee. But remember that the price will always be more attractive than a classic rental, for another vehicle at another agency. For example, for Europcar renting a Fiat 500 next week in Lyon and for one week, the price is 40 euros per day. The rate can correspond for unlimited mileage, it is different from that for a young driver of 22 years for example (80 euros per day).

With Dacia at 4 euros per day from Carrefour, you have to pay more for every kilometer traveled, because they are not included (like gas and late fees). The price per kilometer decreases, it varies according to the duration of the reservation of your model. So, it will be €0.24 for renting 1 to 6 days, 0.22 euro for 7 to 13 days, 0.21 euro for 14 to 29 days, and from 0.20 euros for a rental period of 30 days. So, every month, the Dacia Sandero costs 120 euros to which the kilometers traveled must be added (for example, 144 euros for 600 kilometers traveled in 30 days).

Another condition, for the lease, will need to be respected an initial security deposit of 1000 euros, a great deal for a rental. If you don’t want to or can’t do it, you have to do it pay 8.90 euros per day to upgrade to a security deposit of 200 euros. Finally, it is only possible to pay for the rental by credit card, directly at the modeling agencies. We’ll show you the list below, but feel free to go upstream to the official Carrefour rental agency website to check availability. As a reminder, few copies are available and the brand seems to favor customers looking to rent for a month or less.

Pay attention to late fees. Carrefour is very strict on this point. After 30 minutes, you have to pay a fine of 130 euros, which is more than the price of your rental for a month. Penalties also apply in the event of non-compliance with vehicle maintenance (this includes the need for external or internal cleaning, both charged 50 euros). Finally, note that it is possible to cancel a reservation free of charge up to 72 hours in advance. After this period, 50 euros will be deducted from your initial security deposit.
